Lid-and-base is the classic for apparel, hampers and luxury sets. Magnetic-closure boxes give the satisfying snap that suits electronics, jewellery and premium gifting. Drawer and slipcase styles read as high-end for perfume, spirits and collector items. Book-style boxes work well for kits and press packs.

Board thickness drives perceived quality more than any print effect. We usually specify 1.5mm to 3mm greyboard depending on size and contents, and set the lid clearance so it lifts smoothly without dropping under its own weight. Magnets are chosen by pull strength, not by default.

Wrap Materials and Finishing That Justify the Price

The wrap is where a rigid box earns its cost. Soft-touch laminated art paper is the most versatile premium choice. Uncoated textured stocks — linen, felt, laid — suit heritage and craft brands. Specialty papers with metallic or pearlescent bases work for beauty and spirits.

Foil stamping in gold, silver, rose gold or a matched colour, combined with a deep emboss or deboss, gives a logo physical presence you can feel with a thumb. Spot UV over soft-touch adds contrast without shine across the whole panel. We proof these effects on the actual wrap stock, because foil behaves differently on textured paper than on coated.

Inserts, Protection and Shipping Rigid Boxes Safely

A premium box with a loose product inside undoes the whole effect. Fitted inserts hold each item at a set angle so the reveal is staged, and they stop movement in transit. EVA foam suits heavy or delicate items, moulded pulp is the sustainable alternative, and fabric-lined card trays suit jewellery and accessories.

Rigid boxes should not ship alone. We pair them with a corrugated outer sized to the box so corners and wrap edges arrive undamaged, which is the most common complaint when brands ship rigid packaging direct to customers.

Low Minimums on Luxury Rigid Packaging

Rigid boxes traditionally carried high minimums. We start at 50 units, so a limited edition, a corporate gift run or an influencer seeding box is realistic without a pallet order.
