The two-piece lid and base is the oldest luxury format and still the most reliable. There is no hinge to weaken, no magnet to add cost, and the slow release of air as the lid settles is the sound people associate with expensive things.

We build on 1500gsm greyboard with a hand-applied wrap and a wrapped inner edge, so no raw board is visible anywhere, including the lid rim. That inner edge is the detail cheap rigid boxes skip and it is the first thing a discerning buyer notices.

Lid depth is tuned so the fit is snug but releases cleanly. Too tight and the base lifts with the lid; too loose and it feels hollow.
