A slim magnetic box reads as a gift before it opens
Slim magnetic gift boxes work when the product is flat: a watch strap, a silk scarf, a card set, a phone case, jewellery on a pad. The lid folds over, two hidden magnets pull it shut with a soft click, and nothing on the outside interrupts the print. That closing sound is most of the reason customers keep the box.
Depths usually sit between 20mm and 45mm. Anything shallower and the magnets start to fight the board thickness, so we test the closure on a physical sample before the run is booked.
How the box is built
The shell is 1.5mm to 2mm greyboard wrapped with litho-printed art paper or a textured specialty stock. Two 12mm neodymium magnets are set into the front lip and the base, then covered by the wrap so no metal shows. Inside you can add a foam pad cut to the product, a rigid ribbon lift, or a printed insert card.
Corners are hand-wrapped, which is why the finished edge stays tight rather than showing board grey at the folds.
Finishes that suit flat formats
On a slim lid the artwork sits close to the eye, so surface quality matters more than volume of decoration. Popular combinations are soft-touch lamination with gold foil on the logo, uncoated fine linen paper with a blind deboss, or matte black with spot UV lines. We avoid heavy gloss on large dark panels because fingerprints show quickly.
Sizes, quantities and lead time
Send inner dimensions in inches or millimetres and we will build the dieline free of charge, along with a 3D mockup for approval. Minimum order is 50 boxes, with price breaks at 250, 500 and 1,000 units. Production takes 8 to 10 working days after artwork sign-off.
